For those who don't know, Colleen was on the TV show, Wipeout, but a high center of gravity is not an asset in those challenges.
Still, she handled herself with such poise and determination, getting up and keeping going with grace, despite adversity, that she has become an inspiration. After letting a number of people know about the show Steve, my husband, heard from a mother whose daughter has CP. Sometimes watching an athlete struggle - something we rarely see as we usually witness the product of years of learning and practice - lets us know that it is ok for us to struggle too.
Week 7
Date 08/27/08 ... Colleen is the first contestant.
Since then the mother has written again and a physician said he will show Colleen's run at the obstacle course to a young asthma patient who needs to become more physically active.

Hi, Colleen. You don't know me and I don't know you, but Steve Crandall sent me the story about your appearance on Wipeout and the "silver lining" that resulted. First of all, I admire you for even going on the show. Even more, I admire your tenacity to get to the end of the obstacle course. I hope you had fun on your adventure at the same time you were setting an example for others to follow. Congratulations on your unintended consequences. May you have many more!
