I survived the first tournament of the season! It was a cloudy beach day as you can see in the pictures, but all players and fans were in good spirits because we were all so excited that the first tourney had finally arrived. This tourney was not like most: it was specifically a ProAm tourney, meaning one player on the team is a professional and the other is an amateur. My amateur partner was Patty Silva and she is no amateur in my eyes. This Brazilian is a super stud on defense and can pass the toughest jump serves.
Speaking of tough jump serves, we faced April Ross in pool play and remained the only team throughout the day to beat her. For those of you unfamiliar with Miss Ross, she is one of the top pro's in the United States and known as a top player in the world. We advanced on from pool play and lost to a very good team in the quarter finals. Patty and I were very happy with our success. We finished top 5 in the tourney, just out of the money and prizes, but the fun of the day was enough of a prize for us.
Big thank you's to my fans for supporting me throughout the day and also to those of you who couldn't be there that keep up with my blog. I will be in a city near you soon. Stay tuned to find out where...
This is a great start and Jheri is happy!

Excellent! Going up against someone like April Ross and beating her must have been great.
Your NJ cheering squad is fired up - including the six ferrets!

Dancing Ferrets are dancing even more with your news, Colleen!
Gads, marvelous athlete WHO BEAT APRIL ROSS, excellent editor, marvelous writer, stilt-free ceiling painter (hint for a couple of years from now), inspiration for kids, appreciator of my cooking, puppy mom who is also adored by ferrets, AND I like free spirit and look of the pony tail. (You'd look stunning in a not-curly page boy, too, Colleen, but also any type of pony tail (high, low, gathered loose or tight...) works for you. My friend, you have so much that is good about you.

Collen!!! Partner!
I just finally looked at your website!
It is amazing, great job :)
I had a blast that day as well. Not bad for a ProAm to start the year beating one of the best players!
Thank you for the complements! We should play other tournaments together.
And Tyler will be very happy when he sees his pictures here!
See you soon,
Patty Silva
