Marcia Baugh of AWP Butcher Block is an amazing innovator and was able to construct this awesome raised counter top for me to use in my kitchen. I cook a lot and was getting tired of bending so far over. Check it out!
Marcia can make this chopping block in a range of lengths and widths and to fit people from about 5'9" to over 7'0". At colleen-i-fying the world we've worked out how you can measure yourself so the vertical fit will be ergonomically perfect - after all, we're all about vertical here. So far one has been made for me and another for Steve who is about six foot one and both are excellent!
Check out my colleenify blog if there are any chefs of altitude in your kitchen. You can see how to measure yourself here.
Mention "colleen-i-fication" for a discount and ask her how to get measured!

a smaller and shorter version for someone wonderful who is shorter than Colleen with less counter space:

looks Very nice!

I came across a link to this post over at Apartment Therapy (in the Kitchen blog). Although I'm only a measly 6 ft tall, I have the same problem. My house was built in 1935, and as you can guess, the counters are short short short. And I love to cook, so it can be hard sometimes.
I've really enjoyed reading the rest of this blog as well. It's comforting to know there are other women out there who live tall and care about the environment.
Keep up the good work!

hi, i just found you blog, i have a couple of suggestions that might help you find some better fitting clothes, i know how hard that can be, for other reasons, but you might want to check... ok, now don't get me wrong, i don't do this, so don't read any thing in to it, i just want to make that clear...:-)..., but you might want to check out cross dressing sites, you know men who dress like women, they have womens clothing in larger than standard sizes, both ways, you might find some thing you like, here is a link to a shoe site;
http://www.shoesofyourdreams.com/?gclid=CLC4gdbeiJ8CFRKenAodymUULA
i know how women LOVE shoes, i have a mother and 2 sisters, i know.
some of the pictures i saw i can suggest a quick fix to, the table, i would suggest buying about 2 un abriged english dictionaries to put under the table leggs, they are about 4 1/2 inches thick 2 per leg, you might find this more comfortable.
as for the car, the only thing i can suggest is that you take your shoes off, it wll at least make your feet feel better, give you toes room to strech out.
well, i hope i have offered you some help.
hope you had a merry christmas
and a happy new year
sincerly,
ed
